Special Education Teacher | Thornton, Colorado

This contract opportunity seeks caring, collaborative Special Education professionals ready to empower middle school learners. Two full-time roles are available—supporting either students with mild to moderate learning needs, or those requiring Significant Support Needs (SSN). Based on your preference, you may be working at Northglenn or Rocky Top Middle Schools, with assignments ranging from seven weeks to the winter break.
What we’re seeking:
• Active Colorado Department of Education Teacher License with a Special Education Generalist Endorsement (Ages 5–21)
• Availability for 37.5 hours per week, with flexibility to support one or two campuses
• Ability to deliver specialized instruction—either as a Learning Specialist (mild–moderate needs) or as an SSN Teacher (students with significant cognitive/communicative disabilities)
• On-site presence required; experience in dynamic school settings highly valued
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
• Up-to-date credentials and timely completion of all district-mandated processes, including fingerprints
• References ready to upload as part of candidate submission requirements
What you’ll be doing:
• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collaborating with classroom teachers, counselors, and families for comprehensive student support
• Creating inclusive, supportive classroom environments
• Monitoring and documenting student progress
• Adjusting instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs
• Engaging in school-wide initiatives and professional development
