This onsite, full-time travel contract is for a classroom spanning 3rd through 6th grades. You’ll work with students who demonstrate a range of learning needs, including non-verbal communication, and have the chance to collaborate in a school and residential setting that specializes in behavioral support. You’ll gain valuable insight into diverse workplace approaches and develop resilience and versatility as an educator.
Qualifications:
- Active PEL (Professional Educator License) and LBS1 certification required
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher at the elementary/intermediate (3rd–6th grade) level preferred
- Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) devices a strong asset
- Comfortable supporting students with adverse/aggressive behaviors, including self-harm, property destruction, elopement, and aggression
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to 3rd–6th grade students in a supportive and structured environment
- Implement evidence-based strategies, particularly for non-verbal learners
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to best serve students’ academic and behavioral goals
- Foster a positive, safe, and engaging classroom culture, employing de-escalation and safety protocols as needed
