Special Education Teacher in Pecos, NM
Make a meaningful impact teaching middle school students with mild to severe special needs in a dynamic educational environment. This full-time contract opportunity begins August 10, 2026, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 2:45 PM. You'll work with a middle school caseload (grades 6-8), designing and delivering individualized instruction that helps every student succeed.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Previous experience working with students with mild to severe needs, ideally in a middle school setting
- Active Medicaid NCI number
- Ability to pass a background check
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
- Dedication to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to student abilities and goals
- Provide direct instruction and adapt curriculum materials for diverse learning needs
- Monitor, assess, and document progress for each student, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Utilize positive behavioral interventions and supports to nurture social and emotional growth
- Maintain timely and accurate records, reports, and data tracking for Medicaid requirements
- Participate in IEP meetings and professional development sessions as needed
