Special Education Teacher

Empower students and make a significant impact by supporting a school district in need of a skilled Special Education Teacher. This contract position offers an opportunity to provide individualized instruction and foster a supportive educational environment near Apple Valley, MN.
Desired Qualifications:
- Current and valid Minnesota teaching license; Tier 3 or Tier 4 preferred
- Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including ASD, EBD, and OHD
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, case management, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and upholding ethical standards in education
Responsibilities:
- Manage a cross-categorical caseload of approximately 14 students
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Teach Strategies, focused on social-emotional skills and academic work support
- Teach Reading using provided curriculum
- Teach Transitions, focusing on leisure activities and social skills for students with higher ASD needs
- Provide individualized instruction and adapt curriculum to meet student needs
- Support students with communication, sensory regulation, social skills, and functional communication
- Collaborate with families, general education teachers, related service providers, and school staff
- Collect and document student progress and adjust instruction as needed
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and required training
Program Information:
This is a center-based position within the ACES program, which primarily serves students identified with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The program emphasizes communication skills, sensory regulation, and replacing inappropriate behaviors with functional communication.
