Inspire and support the next generation of learners as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic contract position beginning as soon as possible through June 4, 2027. You will work full time (approximately 35 hours per week) with a K-1st grade social communication classroom. This class is designed for children who are non-verbal and require a high level of care, including diapering. You’ll partner closely with two experienced paraprofessionals to foster an inclusive, accessible, and nurturing space for every student.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current New Mexico teaching license and NMPED credentials are required
- Expertise in special education, preferably with early elementary or non-verbal populations
- Compassion, patience, and positive attitude when meeting unique learning and care needs
- Effective communication and collaboration skills with team members and families
- Previous experience in similar educational settings is highly valued
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver individualized instruction, adapting materials and strategies to various learning needs
- Support activities of daily living, including diapering and hygiene assistance
- Collaborate with paraprofessional staff to create an engaging classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom routines
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by state and district guidelines
- Participate in team meetings, IEP processes, and ongoing professional development
