Special Education Teacher - South San Francisco, California

This full-time contract opportunity, based near South San Francisco, CA, runs from 8/10/26 through 5/27/27 and is tailored for educators experienced in mild/moderate special education settings.
You’ll work with a dynamic group of around 27 students, teaching a blend of Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) classes—specifically, four sections of 6th grade writing and English Language Arts—while also providing one section of Resource Specialist Program (RSP) support. This setting is ideal for those passionate about guiding diverse learners to thrive, collaborating with other professionals, and serving as an advocate for students’ unique strengths and needs.
Key Requirements:
- Hold a valid and active California mild/moderate Education Specialist credential (Non-negotiable)
- Background delivering both SAI and RSP instruction at the middle school level
- Skill in writing and implementing differentiated lesson plans for ELA and writing
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and compliance
- Excellent classroom management and ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons across SAI ELA and writing sections for 6th grade students
- Provide targeted support through RSP services
- Maintain accurate records and ensure full compliance with IEPs and documentation
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that celebrates individual learning needs
- Communicate proactively with families and collaborate with instructional teams
- Adapt strategies and interventions for students with mild to moderate disabilities
