Special Education Teacher | Theodore, Alabama
Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher, where you'll make a lasting impact in a school community eager for dedicated support. This contract role is focused exclusively on-site and is ideal for travel professionals seeking a dynamic assignment. You'll be serving K-5 students in a self-contained classroom setting, working collaboratively with another Special Education Teacher to divide a total caseload of 20 students. With no Special Education Teacher present in the past three years, your expertise will play a crucial role in shaping structured educational experiences and supporting children with varying needs, including those that require assistance with toileting.
Your commitment will be needed from ASAP through the end of May 2027, working 35 hours per week from 7:45am to 3:15pm. This placement is perfectly suited for candidates eager to travel and bring enthusiasm and specialized skills to a welcoming school environment.
What we are looking for:
- Valid and current Educator Certification (proof required at interview)
- Experience teaching in Special Education, ideally in self-contained or elementary settings
- Confidence managing diverse needs, including some toileting support
- Adaptability, compassion, and excellent communication skills to partner with staff and families
- Ability to commute and work on-site exclusively
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction for K-5 special education students
- Collaborating with fellow SPED teacher to develop and manage student caseloads
- Implementing IEPs and positive behavioral strategies
- Supporting daily routines, inclusive of personal care needs
