Special Education Teacher - Tilton, New Hampshire
Make a meaningful impact this school year as a certified special educator supporting 5th graders with diverse learning needs. In this contract position, you'll work closely with approximately 12 students who have identified challenges in reading, math, and executive functioning. Your expertise will help these young learners thrive, using evidence-based strategies in a supportive, small group environment.
This assignment is scheduled from late August through the December break, providing an excellent opportunity to guide students through the first half of the school year. Collaboration is at the heart of this role—you’ll coordinate closely with the grade-level regular education team, sharing insights and co-creating instructional plans.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid special education teaching certification
- Experience working with elementary students with reading, math, and/or executive functioning needs
- Strong skills in differentiated instruction and behavior management
- Ability to foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to teamwork, flexibility, and ongoing communication
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction primarily in small groups, adapting materials to meet student IEP goals
- Monitor and track student progress, documenting outcomes and adjusting interventions as necessary
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with general education teachers to ensure alignment and consistency across content areas
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student growth and needs
- Support students in building confidence, independence, and self-advocacy skills
