Special Education Teacher | Torrington, Connecticut
Make a real difference as a Special Education Resource Teacher supporting students from Kindergarten through 7th grade during the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time, contract opportunity is ideal for educators passionate about fostering academic and personal growth in diverse learners. Three positions are available, each focused on a unique caseload: Kindergarten Resource, Grade 1-2 Resource, and 7th Grade Resource/Case Manager. In-person engagement is required to ensure students receive the highest level of support and continuity throughout the academic year.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teaching Certification
- Experience working with K-7 learners in a resource or case management setting
- Strong understanding of IEP implementation and relevant assessment tools
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills with students, families, and staff
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet varied learning styles
- Dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment
- Availability for full-time, in-person work from August 2026 through June 2027
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to K-7 students based on individual IEPs
- Manage caseloads focused on Kindergarten, Grades 1-2, or 7th grade, depending on assignment
- Develop, implement, and monitor progress toward IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and administrators
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain accurate records
- Foster a supportive atmosphere that enables all students to thrive academically and socially
This contract role requires your presence on campus Monday through Friday, averaging 35 to 37.5 hours per week. You'll be part of a caring team dedicated to making a lasting impact on students’ lives.
