Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with students with severe behaviors, preferably in a self-contained setting
- Proficiency in developing and implementing Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs)
- Strong background in writing and managing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Training in student restraint techniques is preferred
- Outstanding communication and classroom management skills
- Compassion, patience, and adaptability in challenging situations
Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to elementary-aged students (K-6) with significant behavioral needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor effective BIPs and IEPs, ensuring appropriate accommodations and supports
- Collaborate with support staff, related service providers, and families to promote student progress and safety
- Utilize evidence-based strategies to de-escalate behaviors and foster a positive, structured classroom environment
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
- Comply with all federal, state, and district policies related to special education
