Special Education Teacher - Universal City, Texas
Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a Special Education Teacher in a Life Skills program serving elementary or intermediate grade levels. This contract opportunity offers you the chance to work closely with a small group of students (typically 9-12 per classroom), supported by two paraprofessionals, in a dynamic and collaborative educational environment near Universal City, TX.
Your expertise will enrich the lives of students with diverse needs, including intellectual disabilities, autism, and speech impairments. You’ll play a vital role in fostering academic growth, independence, and social development. Flexible campus hours run either 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM or 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM, depending on assignment. We are seeking immediate backfill for these positions, so you will be able to start as soon as you are cleared to work.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Special Education certification
- Content-area or Generalist certification
- Previous experience working with students with intellectual, developmental, and communicative disabilities preferred
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Positive, collaborative mindset to work effectively with paraprofessional support
Your Role:
- Deliver high-quality, adapted instruction to a small group of students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals to meet student needs
- Monitor student progress and document growth
- Foster a caring and structured classroom that encourages independence
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary teams
