Special Education Teacher - Washington, DC

Key Highlights:
- Two immediate openings for experienced Special Education Teachers
- Full-time schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm, following the school calendar
- Important dates: preservice/training and first day for students begin in August 2026, with the assignment running through June 23, 2027
- Manage a caseload of 8-10 elementary-aged students in a single school setting
- No formal licensure required for consideration
- Collaborate with engaged, knowledgeable school leaders throughout the interview process
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum within K-5th grade settings
- Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and effective accommodations
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Team-player attitude with adaptability to changing needs and schedules
- Effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to each student’s unique abilities and goals
- Implement and monitor IEPs, track progress, and ensure compliance
- Partner with multidisciplinary teams to create best outcomes
- Engage in ongoing professional development during preservice workshops
- Maintain positive and responsive communication with parents and guardians
