Ideal candidates will possess:
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher, especially in school settings
- Ability to provide engaging instruction in both resource and self-contained classrooms
- Strong knowledge of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
- Certification in Special Education (or eligibility in DC)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Flexibility to adapt to changing classroom needs and diverse student populations
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering individualized and small-group instruction based on student IEPs
- Collaborating with general education teachers, support staff, and families to support student success
- Managing classroom routines and maintaining a positive, inclusive learning environment
- Documenting student progress and participating in IEP meetings
- Providing accommodations, modifications, and support to ensure all learners can achieve their best
There are currently three contract positions available. The immediate need is for a middle school resource or self-contained teacher; other opportunities may become available as needs are updated.
