Qualifications & Preferred Experience
- Active Alabama Special Education teaching certification (SPED licensure required; certification can be verified on the Alabama Department of Education website).
- Previous experience working with students in autism or language-based self-contained classrooms is highly valued.
- Ability to design, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Demonstrated skills in fostering positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication abilities.
Role Responsibilities
- Develop and facilitate differentiated lesson plans and instructional activities tailored to each student’s needs within self-contained language/autism units.
- Oversee academic, social, and behavioral support for caseloads of approximately 10–20 students, partnering with a dedicated team of 3–5 paraprofessionals.
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate on IEP meetings.
- Engage in ongoing communication with school teams and families to promote student growth.
- Maintain a structured, nurturing classroom environment that supports engagement and independence.
