Special Education Teacher - Whitehall, MI

Multiple contract positions are available across elementary and high school resource classrooms, where you’ll work onsite with students who benefit from individualized instruction and an inclusive, supportive environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (or current enrollment in a state-approved certification program recognized by MDE)
- Preferred endorsements: Learning Disabilities (SM) and/or Cognitive Impairment (SA)
- Prior classroom teaching experience, especially in special education settings, is an advantage
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to fostering student growth and positive social behaviors
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instructional support to students with disabilities, adapting strategies to foster sensory, motor, linguistic, cognitive, and social growth
- Plan and implement engaging lessons using multisensory techniques and evidence-based instructional methodologies
- Modify the general curriculum and employ assistive technologies to accommodate individual needs and learning styles
- Effectively implement IEP goals and positive behavior supports in daily instruction
- Collaborate with general educators, service providers, administrators, and families to ensure student success and regulatory compliance
- Maintain an inclusive resource room environment that encourages student participation and independence
Contract Details:
- Multiple positions at elementary and high school sites
- Onsite, 37.5 hours per week
- August 31, 2026 – June 10, 2027
