Special Education Teacher in Arlington Heights, IL
Step into a rewarding contract role supporting young learners in a special education instructional setting for 4th and 5th graders. Located near Arlington Heights, IL, this opportunity focuses on guiding a small classroom environment during an FMLA leave coverage from August 24th through November 20th. You'll have the resources and support you need, working closely with four dedicated teacher assistants to help make a lasting difference for eight incredible students.
Key Requirements:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Previous experience instructing students in special education settings, preferably at the elementary level
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate with aides and related service providers
- Experience writing and implementing IEPs
- Commitment to fostering a supportive, engaging, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction in alignment with students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Partner with classroom assistants, leveraging their strengths to best support each student
- Maintain open communication with parents, staff, and administrators regarding student progress
- Implement effective classroom routines that encourage student participation and academic growth
- Monitor and document student achievement and provide feedback that supports individual needs
- Work proactively with behavior specialists or support staff as needed
