Special Education Teacher | Chicago, Illinois

Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid special education teaching certification
- Previous experience teaching in an elementary special education environment strongly preferred
- Expert understanding of IEP planning, documentation, and implementation
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual needs
- Strong collaborative skills to work effectively with teacher assistants, support staff, and families
- Excellent communication, patience, and creative problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide daily instruction customized to each student’s learning requirements
- Develop, execute, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Coordinate with and mentor a team of four teacher assistants within the classroom
- Maintain progress documentation and report regularly to administration and families
- Foster a positive, structured, and inclusive classroom environment
- Adapt lessons and activities for a variety of learning styles and abilities
- Engage in parent conferences and IEP meetings as needed
