Step into a rewarding opportunity making a difference in the lives of 4th and 5th grade students as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position, covering an FMLA leave from August 24th to November 20th, is located near Chicago, IL, and offers the chance to work in a dynamic, supportive environment.
You will guide a small, close-knit class of 8 students with the collaboration of four dedicated teacher assistants. Your expertise will foster a positive, inclusive classroom where every learner is empowered to thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification appropriate for the grade level
- Previous experience in a self-contained or resource special education classroom preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Effective classroom management and differentiation skills
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Compassionate, adaptable, and student-focused approach
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans to meet each student's unique needs and goals
- Work closely with teacher assistants, ensuring coordinated support and an engaging classroom environment
- Monitor student progress, maintain accurate records, and communicate regularly with families and related service providers
- Foster a culture of respect, safety, and enthusiasm for learning
- Contribute to IEP meetings and support compliance with all special education guidelines
