This contract Special Education Teacher role is situated in a self-contained Significant Support Needs (SSN) classroom serving students in Kindergarten, supported by 2-3 dedicated paraprofessionals. Enjoy a structured, four-day workweek (Tuesday through Friday, 7:30am–4:30pm) during the 2026–2027 academic year.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active CDE Special Education teaching credential required
- Experience in a self-contained, SSN classroom or equivalent highly valued
- Ability to develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Strong collaboration skills for partnering with paraprofessionals, related services staff, and administrators
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with students, parents, and team members
- Demonstrated patience, creativity, and adaptability in supporting students with significant needs
Role Responsibilities:
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom atmosphere tailored to learning needs
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction, addressing cognitive, behavioral, and sensory challenges
- Monitor student progress and document data as required by district and state
- Collaborate with a team of paraprofessionals to adapt activities and ensure consistent support for 6-13 K-2 students
- Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on progress and strategies for continued growth
- Contribute to IEP meetings, developing goals and accommodations aligned with student abilities
