Make a meaningful impact supporting students with significant needs in a vibrant elementary school setting. This contract position offers the opportunity to work as a Special Education Teacher in a self-contained classroom for the 2026-2027 school year. You’ll play a key role in nurturing and guiding a small group of K-5 students, while collaborating with a dedicated team of paraprofessionals.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current CDE Special Education licensure (required)
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher, particularly in settings with significant support needs (SSN) preferred
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs)
- Strong relationship-building skills with students, staff, and families
- Exceptional organization, flexibility, and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and positive classroom culture
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and behavioral support to 6-13 elementary-aged students with significant support needs in a self-contained environment
- Collaborate with 2-3 on-site paraprofessionals to ensure comprehensive student support
- Develop, write, and implement IEPs based on student needs and district guidelines
- Use evidence-based strategies and differentiated instruction to promote student growth
- Monitor student progress and maintain clear communication with families and staff
- Participate in school-wide activities and team meetings
Schedule & Environment:
- 34 hours per week, Tuesday through Friday (Mondays off!), 7:30am-4:30pm
- Full school year commitment: August 20, 2026 – June 3, 2027
