Special Education Teacher | Beaverton, Oregon

This contract role invites a passionate Special Education Teacher with extensive experience supporting students with autism to create lasting impact throughout a variety of classrooms, resource rooms, and age groups—serving kindergarteners through age 21 within an itinerant, district-wide ASD program.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education teaching licensure/certification required
- Several years of hands-on experience working with students with autism, including Asperger's Syndrome and high-functioning autism
- In-depth knowledge of research-based behavioral and instructional interventions for individuals with ASD
- Proven ability to develop and implement IEPs and behavior support plans tailored to individual student needs
- Experience utilizing applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles and assessment tools
- Strong collaborative skills for effective teamwork with educators, related service providers, and families
- Ability to create culturally responsive and inclusive instructional strategies
Responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction, activities, and lessons that align with state standards and IEP goals
- Administer assessments, interpret results, and design behavior support plans modified as necessary through ongoing data collection
- Employ a broad spectrum of instructional models, including discrete trial teaching, pivotal response training, and functional routines
- Adapt and modify curricula for diverse ASD learners while fostering independence, self-advocacy, and social development
- Train district staff, service providers, and families on evidence-based interventions and student support strategies
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district special education requirements
- Facilitate robust communication among classroom teams and families to support positive student outcomes
