Qualifications & Experience
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Several years of direct experience working with students with Autism, including Asperger’s Syndrome and high-functioning autism
- Thorough understanding of IEPs, 504 plans, and state standards
- Demonstrated expertise in applied behavior analysis, data-driven behavioral intervention, and research-based instructional techniques for ASD
- Ability to adapt, modify, and implement curriculum to meet diverse needs across K-21 settings
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct instruction tailored to students with ASD, develop and implement individualized lesson activities
- Conduct, interpret, and communicate results from a variety of educational and behavioral assessments
- Lead the creation and ongoing refinement of behavior support plans based on data collection
- Promote and model social skill development, independent functioning, and positive behavioral strategies throughout the school day
- Collaborate actively with other educators, related service providers, and families
- Guide and train district staff and parents on interventions, curriculum customization, and best practices for ASD
- Develop and review IEPs, participate in eligibility determinations, and ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines
- Stay current on advancements in ASD service delivery and crisis intervention
