As a dedicated Special Education Teacher with significant autism experience, you’ll be at the heart of promoting growth, skill development, and inclusion for students on the autism spectrum.
The role involves designing and delivering research-based lessons and activities that align with state standards, district goals, and individual student needs—taking into account IEPs, 504s, and behavioral plans. You’ll collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, families, and service providers to foster positive student outcomes.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility)
- Solid background in ASD instruction, with several years of direct experience supporting students with autism, including high-functioning autism/Asperger’s Syndrome
- Proficiency with assessment tools, data interpretation, and progress monitoring for a diverse student population
- Expertise in applied behavior analysis and evidence-based practices for developing behavior support and instructional plans
- Ability to adapt curricula and teaching strategies for a wide range of learning needs
- Experience working collaboratively with IEP teams, parents, and other professionals
- Commitment to professional development and staying current with best practices in ASD education
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction, using ABA and other supportive practices
- Assess functional, academic, and behavioral needs to inform planning
- Design interventions and strategies to improve social, play, and leisure skills
- Deliver professional development and training for staff and families
- Ensure compliance with federal/state/district policies for Special Education
- Facilitate crisis prevention/intervention and promote safe learning environments
