This full-time contract opportunity provides the chance to work closely with K-12 learners who have multiple disabilities and significant instructional and behavioral needs.
Bring your expertise in special education to an engaging environment where individualized and group instruction is tailored to meet the unique goals of each student. Apply your knowledge of evidence-based practices—particularly Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)—to facilitate both skill acquisition and positive behavioral changes.
Desired Qualifications:
- Deep familiarity with special education methodologies, including developing/writing IEPs and implementing effective instructional strategies
- Previous experience supporting students on the autism spectrum and those with multiple/complex behavioral needs is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Ability to obtain Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certification with a special education endorsement (required). An endorsement in Vision is strongly preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach K-12 students who are visually impaired with multiple disabilities, addressing both instructional and behavioral objectives
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Employ Applied Behavior Analysis strategies to support student growth and development
- Adapt lesson plans and materials for accessibility and individual student needs
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment
- Communicate regularly with parents, caregivers, and related service providers
