Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience working with students in special education, preferably with medically fragile populations
- Compassion, patience, and the ability to develop individualized educational plans
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, nursing staff, and educational coordinators
- Ability to adapt instructional approaches to meet unique learning and health needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver 1:1 instruction for approximately 2-3 hours each day in the nursing home environment
- Create and implement customized lesson plans suited to the student’s abilities and medical considerations
- Track and report on student progress, maintaining thorough documentation
- Coordinate with nursing home staff and other professionals to support the student’s well-being and educational goals
- Uphold a supportive and engaging learning environment, adapting as needed to the student’s medical status
