Special Education Teacher - Dorchester, Massachusetts
An exciting opportunity awaits for a dedicated Special Education professional to make a significant impact on young learners in a supportive school environment. This full-time contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through June 25, 2026, with hours from 8:00AM to 2:30PM, Monday through Friday. The role is based onsite, working closely with 2nd and 3rd grade students who have developmental delays or intellectual impairments.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Massachusetts teaching license/certification in Moderate or Severe Disabilities is required.
- Proven school-based experience in Special Education settings.
- Ability to work effectively with young students who need individualized support.
- Must complete CORI background search and fingerprinting; previous letter of suitability for fingerprints may be acceptable.
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills.
- Collaborative approach to partnering with colleagues, support staff, and families.
- Comfortable with Zoom interviews for candidacy.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement tailored Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for 2nd and 3rd grade students.
- Deliver engaging and adaptive instruction to students with a range of developmental needs.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers, therapists, and other support professionals.
- Monitor student progress, document outcomes, and participate in regular team meetings.
- Communicate with families regarding student plans and ongoing progress.
- Uphold school, district, and state requirements for special education documentation.
