Key Qualifications:
- Current Nevada Special Education (SPED) teaching license required
- Experience or interest in both special education and general education environments
- Proven ability to work effectively with high school learners
- Familiarity with supporting students who may display behavioral challenges
- Strong skills in teaching life skills and implementing de-escalation strategies
- Flexible, compassionate approach and strong communication abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of high school students, providing individualized and group instruction
- Develop and implement lesson plans integrating life skills, academic content, and behavior interventions
- Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to support student emotional and behavioral needs
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, support staff, and families to create a supportive learning environment
- Attend meetings and contribute to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for each student
- Foster a safe, inclusive classroom where every student is encouraged to thrive
