Qualifications:
- State certification in Special Education (or eligibility), with experience teaching grades 6-8
- Familiarity with autism-specific interventions and classroom management strategies
- Skilled in developing and adapting IEPs for middle school students
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with families, colleagues, and support staff
- Experience in a self-contained classroom preferred
Responsibilities:
- Lead instruction in a self-contained, autism-focused classroom for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students
- Develop and implement individualized education plans tailored to student strengths and needs
- Collaborate regularly with other educators, therapists, and support professionals to ensure cohesive student support
- Monitor and document progress, celebrating milestones and adjusting strategies as needed
- Cultivate an inclusive, structured, and positive classroom environment
