What You’ll Do:
- Lead instruction and manage classroom activities for grades 6-8 in a self-contained autism program
- Design and adapt curriculum to meet individual needs, aligning with IEP goals and best practices for students with autism
- Develop a positive, structured environment that nurtures learning, independence, and social growth
- Collaborate with support staff and related service providers to deliver comprehensive educational plans
- Communicate regularly with families regarding progress, goals, and ways to support each learner
- Maintain thorough documentation and participate in IEP meetings
Qualifications:
- Current Special Education Teacher certification (or eligibility) for grades 6-8 in Connecticut
- Demonstrated experience teaching middle school-aged students, particularly in self-contained and/or autism-specific classrooms
- Strong classroom management and individualized instruction skills
- Familiarity with the development and implementation of IEPs
- Excellent collaboration and communication abilities
