Embark on a meaningful contract assignment as a Special Education Teacher in a dynamic school setting near Harvey, LA. This is an excellent opportunity to make a lasting difference in students’ lives while working closely with other passionate professionals.
Your assignment will begin as soon as possible and extend through the end of the academic year (5/27/2027), offering a stable schedule of 35 hours per week (7-hour days with a 30-minute unpaid lunch). School assignments and specific student caseloads are to be determined, but you can expect to support and instruct a range of age groups within a collaborative district environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid, active Louisiana Department of Education Certification with a Special Education (SPED) endorsement (mandatory)
- Candidates must have completed the full licensure process; TAs, TATs, or those merely in progress will not qualify
- Must be able to pass district-specific credentialing, including a drug test and fingerprint background check
- Demonstrated experience and expertise as a Special Education Teacher
Key Duties:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs
- Modify curriculum and instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families for holistic student support
- Track progress, maintain documentation, and actively contribute to ARD/IEP meetings
