What you'll bring:
- Valid Louisiana Educator Certificate (SPED certification is preferred; Elementary 1-5 certification will also be considered)
- Experience working with students with exceptional needs, preferably in an elementary setting
- Strong classroom management and differentiation abilities
- Commitment to individualized instruction and collaborative problem-solving
- Passion for fostering student independence and achievement
- Ability to start as soon as possible and commit through May 2027
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver instruction to students with diverse learning needs in a self-contained classroom
- Design and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with staff and families
- Adapt curriculum and teaching methods to each student's abilities and goals
- Track student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Communicate consistently with families, support staff, and specialists
- Create a nurturing, safe, and structured learning environment
- Uphold school policies and maintain positive relationships in the school community
