A contract opportunity is available for a Special Education Teacher prepared to lead a self-contained adapted curriculum classroom for the 2026/2027 school year. What You'll Be Doing:
- Delivering adapted curriculum lessons tailored to varied student abilities
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for each student
- Maintaining classroom structure and effective behavioral supports
- Collaborating with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and families to optimize student progress
- Collecting and utilizing data to inform instructional decisions and monitor outcomes
- Differentiating lessons to address a variety of learning, communication, social, and functional goals
- Fostering a nurturing and structured classroom environment to support independence and skill development
Qualifications:
- Hold a valid Georgia Special Education Certification
- Demonstrated experience with children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Background in IEP development and implementation
- Expertise in classroom management and behavior intervention
- Preferred: Adapted Curriculum certification or equivalent experience; familiarity with ABA, structured teaching, visual supports, and communication systems; experience supporting significant cognitive disabilities and supervising paraprofessionals
Student Population:
- Elementary students with autism and complex learning/behavioral needs
- Self-contained environment for intensive, individualized support
Note: The district will require three reference checks (including a recent supervisor) before scheduling interviews.
