Desired Qualifications:
- Current Louisiana Educator Certificate required (SPED endorsement strongly preferred)
- Open to candidates with an Elementary 1-5 Certificate who demonstrate a commitment to special education
- Prior experience working in a self-contained special education classroom setting is highly regarded
- Passion for creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, support staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and manage IEPs for elementary students in a self-contained classroom
- Adapt curriculum materials, modify lessons, and implement behavioral strategies tailored to each student
- Foster a positive, engaging, and supportive classroom climate
- Work closely with support professionals and parents to ensure student success
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with state and federal regulations
- Participate in team meetings, IEP reviews, and professional development sessions
