Qualifications & Requirements:
- Active Louisiana DOE Certification with Special Education (SPED) endorsement is essential
- Current Louisiana residents with active SPED credentials strongly preferred
- Experience as a Special Education Teacher in K-12 education settings (age groups and caseload details to be determined)
- Must complete district-required drug screening and fingerprinting in addition to standard credentialing
- Candidates with out-of-state, temporary, or incomplete licenses will not be considered
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with diverse learning needs
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Collaborate closely with general education staff, counselors, and other support personnel
- Maintain accurate progress records and provide ongoing communication with parents and guardians
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth and achievement
Position Details:
- Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day, plus a 30-minute unpaid lunch)
- On-site assignment in the greater Metairie area; specific school assignments and caseloads to be determined
- Start immediately and continue through the end of the school year in May 2027
