Special Education Teacher - Montpelier, Vermont

Bring your expertise as a Special Education Teacher to an impactful, in-person contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 academic year in the Barre area near Montpelier, VT. Two openings are available:
- Middle School Special Educator supporting students at Barre Town Middle & Elementary School.
- Elementary School Special Educator providing services at Barre City Elementary & Middle School.
Both roles require a commitment from August 28, 2026, through June 18, 2027, with 37.5 hours per week during the school year.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- State-required special education credentials (non-negotiable).
- Prior experience as a Special Education Teacher in school settings preferred.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and compliance.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, teachers, and support staff.
- Ability to maintain a nurturing and structured classroom for diverse learning needs.
- Must be available for in-person instruction; remote or virtual teaching options are not available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct special education services to assigned caseloads in either a middle or elementary school setting.
- Develop, execute, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) to meet the needs of each student.
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to integrate modifications and accommodations.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress in accordance with district and state regulations.
- Engage with families and staff to foster a collaborative educational environment.
