Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid New Mexico special education teaching license
- High School SPED positions require current high school certification in English or Biology
- Experience or demonstrated ability to teach in resource and intensive learning center (ILC) classrooms preferred
- Commitment to supporting students across a range of abilities and grade levels (PreK through High School)
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and documentation skills
- Ability to adapt lesson plans to the unique needs of each student
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal guidelines
- Provide direct instruction in classroom settings tailored to specific learning requirements
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and families to promote student success
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Address behavioral and learning challenges with patience and proven intervention strategies
