A contract opportunity is open for dedicated Special Education Teachers who are passionate about guiding learners of all abilities. This role runs from August 10th, 2026 through May 20th, 2027, working onsite with students across various grade levels and needs.
Positions are available for both high school and early childhood special education, including roles requiring a high school certification to teach English and Biology. Other roles include Middle School Resource, Elementary Intensive Learning Center (ILC), Pullout/Inclusion combos, and Pre-K placements.
Qualifications:
- Valid New Mexico teaching license and appropriate endorsements
- High school certification required for English and Biology assignments
- Demonstrated experience or coursework in special education best practices
- Familiarity with IEP process and compliance
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with educational teams and families
- Adaptability and a student-centered mindset
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to individual student needs and IEP goals
- Foster inclusive, supportive classroom environments
- Track student progress, evaluate outcomes, and complete required documentation
- Collaborate with general education teachers, aides, specialists, and families
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational programming
- Provide accommodations and modifications to ensure access to curriculum
