This long-term substitute position is perfect for educators eager to broaden their expertise, deepen their understanding of autism spectrum and learning disabilities, and work with a close-knit team dedicated to student growth. You'll engage daily with a small self-contained caseload, supporting both high- and low-functioning middle school students in the Stride program.
Qualifications:
- Active Maryland Special Education Certification (Grades 6-12); conditional certifications considered
- Minimum of two years’ previous Special Education teaching experience preferred
- Experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or with learning disabilities is a plus
- Flexibility to commit to 8-12 weeks starting late August (possibly longer)
Responsibilities:
- Manage a self-contained classroom with up to 8 students (Grades 6-8)
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for diverse learners
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and families
- Participate in case management and progress reporting
