Openings include a role supporting medically fragile 9th and 10th graders, as well as a K/1st grade classroom with mostly nonverbal students. Your compassion and creativity will help foster achievement and growth in these specialized settings.
Desired Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teaching certification in Illinois
- Experience working with medically fragile students or students with complex health needs preferred (for the 9th/10th grade opening)
- Previous experience supporting nonverbal students and familiarity with augmentative or alternative communication strategies (for the K/1st grade opening)
- Patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with paraprofessionals, therapists, families, and administration
- Commitment to differentiating instruction and creating inclusive learning environments
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and challenges
- Adapt curriculum and instruction to meet a range of learning and communication needs
- Foster a nurturing, safe, and engaging classroom atmosphere
- Communicate and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and families to coordinate care and support
- Monitor progress, collect data, and update documentation as needed
- Provide guidance and encouragement to help each student reach their fullest potential
