Special Education Teacher | Swanton, Vermont
Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting their unique learning journeys as an Elementary Special Education Teacher for an exciting new contract opportunity. This full-time position focuses on serving a mild to moderate caseload and offers the chance to collaborate with a dedicated school community. The assignment runs from August 11, 2026, through June 15, 2027, providing the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and staff throughout the school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Vermont teaching license with appropriate Special Education endorsement or eligibility for Vermont licensure
- Experience working with elementary-aged learners in a special education setting (mild/moderate needs preferred)
- Strong understanding of IEP processes, goal setting, data collection, and progress monitoring
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Commitment to advocating for students and supporting inclusive learning environments
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for assigned students
- Provide direct instruction and differentiated support tailored to student needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure cohesive support for each child
- Track and report on student progress through thorough documentation and ongoing assessment
- Proactively participate in team meetings, student conferences, and professional development opportunities
