Special Education Teacher in Van Nuys, CA

Key Qualifications:
- Valid California Education Specialist credential, authorizing instruction for an Extensive Support Needs caseload
- Experience working with students who require significant academic and behavioral support
- Strong knowledge of IEP development, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
- Collaborative approach, able to partner with school teams, families, and related service providers
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Comfort with hybrid teaching, incorporating both virtual and limited in-person services
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the needs of students with autism, intellectual disabilities, and Down syndrome
- Develop, implement, and update IEPs in accordance with state and federal guidelines
- Adapt curricula, lessons, and instructional approaches to ensure accessibility and engagement
- Maintain thorough records, monitor progress, and communicate regularly with families and support staff
- Support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral growth using evidence-based strategies
- Attend virtual meetings and provide occasional in-person support at the learning center as required
