Special Education Teacher | Abernathy, Texas
Step into an impactful role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher working with PreK through 1st grade students. This contract position, located near Abernathy, TX, offers the chance to collaborate with a dedicated staff and provide meaningful, individualized support to a caseload of approximately 90 students—many of whom require speech services.
You will work with a team of six paraprofessionals, lead the development of IEPs, and serve as an essential member of ARD meetings and ongoing progress monitoring. This is an opportunity to foster growth and ensure educational equity for students who need it the most.
Qualifications:
- Active Special Education Teacher License in Texas required
- Previous experience working with early childhood and primary grades is highly valued
- Knowledge of IEP development, ARD process, and compliance with state regulations
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with paraprofessionals, therapists, and families
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct up to 90 students on your caseload, primarily in speech services
- Supervise and support six paraprofessionals to ensure quality programming
- Develop, implement, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Participate in ARD meetings and contribute to team planning
- Maintain timely progress reports for each student
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages student growth
This full-time contract offers weekly pay at a competitive rate between $40 and $45 per hour for 37.5 hours each week, Monday through Friday. Start as soon as possible and continue making a difference through the end of the 2026-2027 school year.
