Special Education Teacher | Elk River, Minnesota
Make a meaningful impact in elementary education as a Special Education Teacher supporting students with Developmental and Cognitive Delays (DCD). This contract position is based onsite and will serve an elementary DCD Centerbase program, supporting learners throughout the school year. Your expertise will help foster growth and independence in a positive, structured environment.
This role begins in August 2026 and continues through early June 2027, operating Monday through Friday for a total of 37.5 hours per week.
Qualifications:
- Current Minnesota Teaching Certification, Tier 3 or 4 (please ensure your certification and resume are included with your application)
- Previous experience working with students with developmental and cognitive delays preferred
- Strong communication skills with staff, students, and families
- Ability to create supportive, individualized learning plans
- Commitment to collaborative practices within a multidisciplinary team
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to elementary students (DCD) in a center-based setting
- Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual education plans (IEPs)
- Develop and document student goals, progress, and accommodations
- Collaborate with support staff, therapists, and families to ensure comprehensive care and learning
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment
- Participate in IEP meetings, team planning, and professional development
