Desired Background and Qualifications:
- Active Michigan Teacher Certificate with Learning Disabilities, Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitively Impaired (CI), or MDE ZA (Early Childhood) and another Special Education endorsement preferred
- Experience or familiarity with MARSE and related IDEA Federal Regulations
- Previous work in urban educational environments is strongly appreciated
- Comfortable managing classrooms up to 22 students, including collaboration with paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
- Able to effectively discuss challenges and resources for urban children and their families
- Ability to provide official university transcripts before onboarding
- Willingness to work fully onsite throughout the school year; virtual/remote positions are unavailable for this role
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and needs
- Collaborate with a dedicated special education team, behavior specialists, and support staff
- Maintain open communication with families about student progress and resources
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training with a mentor and academic support team
- Foster a supportive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment for all learners
- Adapt instruction to meet a variety of learning needs and backgrounds
