Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate in Special Education (preferred: Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), Learning Disabilities (LD), MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) with an additional special education endorsement)
- Understanding of the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA federal regulations
- Comfortable providing instruction in urban settings
- Copy of official university transcripts required before start
- Ability to interview remotely and work onsite
- Strong awareness of challenges facing urban youth and resources to support them
Responsibilities:
- Lead self-contained and resource classrooms for K–12th students with Cognitive or Emotional Impairments and Learning Disabilities
- Caseloads may vary, with professional insight supporting a diverse range of needs
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment
- Work collaboratively with paraprofessional staff, school special education teams, and behavior specialists
