Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, preferably with Emotional Impairment (EI), Cognitive Impairment (CI), or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood) and an additional area in Special Education
- Eligible for K-12 Cognitive Impairment or Learning Disabilities positions
- Willingness and adaptability to work in urban district settings
- Understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and IDEA Federal Regulations
- Comfort with varied caseloads and working collaboratively with support staff
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead self-contained classrooms (up to 22 students) and/or resource settings
- Support students with cognitive or learning disabilities
- Implement individualized education plans (IEPs), partnering with paraprofessionals and behavior specialists
- Foster a nurturing, inclusive environment and meaningful relationships with students and their families
- Participate in ongoing mentoring and professional development
