Desired Qualifications:

  • Active Michigan Teacher Certification with Learning Disabilities endorsement; preference for Emotional Impairment (EI) and/or Cognitively Impaired (CI) endorsements or MDE Endorsement ZA plus one other Special Education area.
  • Experience working in urban school districts strongly preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations.
  • Ability to provide insight on the challenges urban children face and creative solutions for supporting students and families.
  • Official university transcripts required prior to placement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide instruction in self-contained (max 22 students) and/or resource classrooms for K-12 students.
  • Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and deliver engaging lessons adapted to cognitive or learning disabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with onsite support, including paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, and LSS teams.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, mentorship, and training.
  • Foster inclusive, positive classroom environments for all learners.
