Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (official transcripts required)
- Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with LD, EI, CI, or MDE endorsement ZA (Early Childhood with additional special education area)
- Experience in self-contained or resource classrooms (K-12th)
- Knowledge of MARSE and federal IDEA regulations preferred
- Comfortable working onsite in urban school settings
- Strong understanding of the unique needs and resources for urban youth and families
- Passion for collaborative, inclusive education
Responsibilities
- Provide instruction and support in self-contained or resource classrooms (caseloads may vary)
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment for students with cognitive and/or learning impairments
- Utilize creative strategies to meet IEP goals and student needs
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, behavior specialists, mentors, and school support teams
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training
