Step into a meaningful role as a Behavior Support Room Teacher, guiding and empowering seventh-grade students in a supportive junior high school environment near Indianapolis, IN. What you’ll bring:
- Valid teaching license with a Mild Intervention endorsement (required)
- Experience supporting students facing behavioral challenges, particularly those with Emotional Disturbance (preferred)
- Strong classroom management skills and familiarity with behavior intervention strategies
- Excellent organizational and communication abilities for maintaining documentation and coordinating with staff and families
- Dependable, collaborative, and committed work ethic, with reliable daily attendance and willingness to support colleagues
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing student behavior through proactive, positive strategies in a dedicated Behavior Support Room
- Encouraging active student participation and reducing classroom or work avoidance
- Keeping all required IEPs current and maintaining accurate documentation
- Serving as a liaison with parents and staff, facilitating prompt and clear communication
- Leading and mentoring Instructional Assistants (IAs) in daily routines and interventions
- Building rapport and fostering positive relationships with students to support both behavioral and academic achievement
This is a full-time, on-site role (Monday–Friday, 7:35 AM–3:35 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), working closely with a dedicated team, including instructional assistant support. Compensation for this opportunity is competitive, reflecting experience and dedication.
