Make a real difference in the lives of middle school students by serving as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive, self-contained classroom environment. This contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through December 18th, with the possibility to extend into the full academic year and cover a new middle school position in the spring semester.
You’ll work alongside dedicated paraprofessionals supporting a small caseload of 5-8 students with emotional disabilities. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your specialized skills in a collaborative setting with plenty of resources while developing meaningful relationships with your students.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Indiana Special Education Teacher Certification in Mild Intervention or Moderate/Severe
- Experience teaching middle school students preferred
- Ability to support students with emotional disabilities in a self-contained classroom
- Strong communication, organizational, and team collaboration skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
- Foster a positive, safe, and inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, general education teachers, and support staff to deliver effective instruction and behavioral interventions
- Engage in regular communication with parents and families regarding student progress
- Document and track student achievement, behavioral plans, and service delivery
