Make an impact in the lives of high school students as a contract Special Education professional within an innovative, supportive educational environment. Several full-time opportunities are available for skilled Special Education Teachers dedicated to inclusion, SUCCESS, practical skills, life skills/transition programs (CBT), and self-contained support classrooms (STRIVE for Autism/behavior support). These roles are vital to the success of diverse learners throughout the district, with a special emphasis on Life Skills/Transition and Structured Intensive Support classrooms.
You'll thrive if you:
- Hold a valid Arizona Secondary Teaching License and current K-12 Special Education Certificate
- Maintain an active IVP Fingerprint Card
- Have previous experience supporting students with emotional disabilities or additional eligibility areas
- Demonstrate familiarity with students who are at-risk, ethnically diverse, have limited English proficiency, or are exceptional learners
- Bring a thorough knowledge of special services planning and documentation in alignment with federal, state, and district standards
- Are trained in Essential Elements of Effective Instruction (EEEI) or are willing to complete staff development
- Are able to commute within 30 minutes of the Fairfax, Central, and Hayden campuses
- Prefer an onsite teaching setting (remote options unavailable)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction in various special education settings: Inclusion/SUCCESS, Practical, CBT, and STRIVE programs
- Foster meaningful progress with students’ academic, behavioral, prosocial, and self-regulatory goals
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and special services
- Support students’ transitions and life skills, promoting independence and successful outcomes
You’ll work the full academic year, with mandatory CIE training in late July and a staff start at the end of July.
