Make a meaningful difference as an experienced Special Education Teacher supporting students with moderate to severe needs in a dynamic, medically fragile self-contained classroom. This contract position is conveniently located near Peoria, AZ, and covers the 2026-2027 school year, from August 5th, 2026 through May 27th, 2027. You’ll work closely with a dedicated team to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
What we're looking for:
- Valid state certification in Special Education
- Experience supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities preferred
- Previous work with medically fragile students, or a willingness to learn
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt lessons and strategies to unique student needs
- Commitment to creating a safe, caring, and positive classroom community
Your responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and support for a self-contained classroom of 7 students, each with complex learning and medical needs
- Lead and coach 3 classroom assistants to deliver integrated, individualized care
- Develop and implement IEPs and modify curriculum accordingly
- Monitor progress and document student outcomes
- Collaborate with related service providers, families, and school staff
- Ensure compliance with state and federal special education requirements
- Foster a welcoming, engaging, and nurturing classroom atmosphere
